Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Effective date: January 1, 2026
This page outlines the rules for using MyDatingLove and explains how we handle your personal data. We wrote these policies in plain language because every user - regardless of ability - deserves to understand their rights on our dating site for people with disabilities.
Terms of Use for Our Dating Site for People with Disabilities
By creating an account or using MyDatingLove, you agree to these terms. They apply to all visitors, members, and anyone who accesses our online dating platform for special needs communities. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to register. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. We may request identity verification at any time. Accounts created by minors will be permanently removed without notice.
Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. All activity under your account is your responsibility. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact our support team immediately. We recommend using a strong, unique password and enabling any available security features.
Acceptable Use
MyDatingLove exists to foster genuine connections between adults with disabilities and allies who respect them. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information in your profile
- Treat every member with dignity and respect
- Use person-first or identity-first language according to each person's preference
- Report suspicious or harmful behavior using our reporting tools
- Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
Content Ownership
You retain ownership of content you post (photos, text, voice messages). By posting, you grant MyDatingLove a limited license to display that content within the platform. We will never sell your content to third parties or use your photos in advertising without explicit written consent.
Prohibited Conduct: Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Devotee Behavior
MyDatingLove enforces strict community standards to keep our platform safe. Devotees - individuals who fetishize disability - are a recognized safety threat in niche dating spaces for people with disabilities. We actively screen for and remove such accounts.
The following behaviors result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban:
- Devotee behavior - fetishizing, objectifying, or seeking out members specifically because of their disability
- Harassment - unwanted sexual messages, threats, intimidation, or repeated unwelcome contact after being asked to stop
- Ableist conduct - mocking, patronizing, or expressing pity toward members based on disability
- Fraud or impersonation - fake profiles, catfishing, financial scams, or misrepresenting your identity
- Hate speech - slurs, discriminatory language targeting disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion
- Exploitation - attempting to exploit vulnerable members, including those with intellectual disabilities
- Spam or commercial solicitation - using the platform for advertising, recruitment, or sales
Flagged accounts are reviewed within 24 hours. For details on how we monitor safety, visit our Safety & Privacy page.
Privacy Policy: How We Collect and Protect Your Data
Your privacy is not an afterthought - it is a design principle. We collect only the data necessary to provide a functional, safe dating experience. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
Data We Collect
- Account data - email address, display name, date of birth, and password (hashed)
- Profile data - photos, bio text, disability category (optional), location (city-level), preferences
- Usage data - pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser type
- Communication data - messages sent through our platform (encrypted in transit and at rest)
We do not collect medical records, Social Security numbers, or financial information beyond what payment processors require for optional premium subscriptions.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to operate the platform, match you with compatible members, enforce community guidelines, and improve accessibility features. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. We do not share your disability status with anyone outside the platform without your explicit consent.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode and language). Analytics cookies help us understand which accessibility features are used most. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings without affecting core functionality.
Data Retention
Active account data is retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, personal data is purged within 30 days. Anonymized usage data may be retained for up to 12 months for accessibility research and platform improvement.
Third-Party Sharing
We share data only with service providers essential to platform operations: cloud hosting (encrypted), payment processing (PCI-compliant), and email delivery. All third parties are contractually bound to the same privacy standards we maintain. We do not share data with data brokers.
Your Rights Under CCPA and ADA
As a user of dating sites for people with disabilities, you have specific legal protections. Here is what they mean in practice.
Your CCPA Data Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Access - request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Delete - request permanent deletion of your data
- Opt out - decline the sale of personal data (we do not sell data, but this right is guaranteed)
- Non-discrimination - receive equal service regardless of whether you exercise these rights
To submit a data request, email [email protected] or visit our contact page. We respond within 45 days.
ADA & WCAG Compliance
MyDatingLove is committed to full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This means:
- Screen reader support - tested with VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA
- Keyboard navigation - every feature accessible without a mouse
- Color contrast - minimum 4.5:1 ratio for all text
- Reduced motion - animations disabled when system preference is set
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, we consider it a bug. Report it through our contact page and we will address it within 48 hours.
Our Accessibility Commitment
Accessibility in dating apps is not optional - it is a legal requirement under the ADA and a moral imperative. Court cases have already established that digital platforms must meet accessibility standards, and violations have resulted in lawsuits. MyDatingLove was built accessibility-first, not retrofitted after launch.
We test every feature with assistive technologies before release. If it does not work with a screen reader, it does not ship.
- MyDatingLove Engineering Team
Our ongoing commitment includes quarterly WCAG audits, user testing with disabled community members, and a dedicated accessibility feedback channel. We support all major assistive technologies, including screen readers, voice control, switch access, and screen magnification. Learn more about how our platform works with these tools.
