About MyDatingLove: A Disabled Dating Site Built on Respect

We believe every person deserves a dating experience designed around dignity, accessibility, and genuine human connection - not as an afterthought, but as a foundation.

Why This Dating Site for People with Disabilities Exists

MyDatingLove is an inclusive disabled dating site that started with a simple observation: mainstream dating apps were not built for people with disabilities. Swipe-based mechanics exclude users with motor impairments. Photo-first profiles sideline blind and low-vision daters. And nowhere - on any major platform - was there meaningful protection against devotees, ableist behavior, or the exhausting "when do I disclose?" dilemma.

According to the CDC, 28.7% of U.S. adults - over 61 million people - live with a disability. The WHO estimates 1.3 billion people worldwide experience significant disability. These are not edge cases. They are parents, veterans, professionals, artists, and students who deserve the same shot at love as anyone else.

We built MyDatingLove alongside disabled adults who told us exactly what they needed. The result is a platform with 12 specialized dating categories, multiple communication formats, and a community-first approach to connection. Learn how our platform works from sign-up to first date.

The Numbers That Inspired Us

These are not abstract statistics - they represent real people looking for real connection.

One in four American adults lives with a disability - yet most dating platforms treat accessibility as a checkbox, not a core design principle. That gap between population size and platform quality is exactly why MyDatingLove exists.

Our Core Values

Four commitments that shape every decision we make.

Inclusivity

Every person deserves love and connection. We design for all disability types, communication styles, and relationship goals - no one is an afterthought.

Safety

Active moderation against devotees and scammers, profile verification, and a zero-tolerance harassment policy protect every member of our community.

Respect

No pity. No inspiration porn. We use person-first and identity-first language based on each community's preferences - because language matters.

Accessibility

WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, screen reader support, keyboard navigation, large touch targets, and reduced motion options are built in from day one.

How We Differ from Mainstream Dating Apps

This is not another Tinder clone with an accessibility badge.

Mainstream dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge were designed for speed - swipe, match, move on. That model fails disabled users in three fundamental ways.

Accessibility-First Design

Most apps bolt on accessibility features after launch. We started with WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, tested with VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA, and built every interaction to work via keyboard, screen reader, and touch. Large buttons, high contrast, and no flashing content - because safety includes sensory safety.

Anti-Devotee Protection

Devotees - people who fetishize disability - are a documented problem on generic platforms. MyDatingLove actively moderates for devotee behavior patterns, reviews flagged accounts within 24 hours, and enforces a clear anti-harassment policy. Read our full Safety & Privacy policies.

Communication Your Way

Text messaging is not enough. Our platform supports text, voice messages, and video calls with real-time captions - giving Deaf, blind, and neurodivergent users genuine communication options. Explore communication strategies on our blog.

While competitors like Dating4Disabled rely on outdated interfaces and Special Bridge offers limited category support, MyDatingLove provides 12 distinct communities - each with tailored content, community-specific advice, and member profiles. Dateability, a mobile app competitor rated 3.1 out of 5, has been reported with as few as 30 profiles in some filters. We are building something broader and more sustainable.

What Our Members Say

The community speaks for itself.

For the first time, I didn't have to explain myself. My profile already said what I needed it to say, and people responded to me - not my diagnosis. That shift changed everything.

Other apps made me feel like I had to prove I was worth dating despite my amputation. Here, I just feel like a person looking for another person. That's all I ever wanted.

Built by People Who Understand

MyDatingLove was not designed in a boardroom. Our team includes disability advocates, accessibility engineers, mental health professionals, and - most importantly - disabled adults who use dating platforms themselves.

Our accessibility lead is a screen reader user. Our content team includes writers who live with ADHD, bipolar disorder, and chronic pain. Our UX researchers conduct usability tests with wheelchair users, Deaf signers, and blind testers before every feature ships.

"Nothing about us without us" is not a slogan here - it is a hiring practice, a design process, and a daily standard. - The MyDatingLove Team

We are a small, remote team spread across the United States, united by the conviction that dating sites for people with disabilities should be built with the community, not just for it. Have questions or want to get involved? Reach out to us.
